Nearly 70% of drug target plasma membrane proteins in cells, however over 85% of the thousands of plasma membrane protein are undruggable, meaning cannot be drug targets due to insufficient structural data on plasma membrane proteins of cells. As a result, thousands of new and novel drugs await discovery.
Consequently, at Porosome.AI, we continue to map the 3D atomic structure of the porosome and porosome proteins to develop proprietary universally generalized AI models to understand the protein-protein interactions at the atomic level of the nearly 30 proteins composing the porosome secretory nanomachine at the cell plasma membrane in all human tissues. This will enable the identification, design and development of new and novel drugs to prevent, treat and cure diseases resulting from secretory disorders. While “System Design” such as software framework, loops and logic that enable an AI observe, think and take action is known, and while “Tool Integration” and “Environment Setup” like user interface for an AI agent to operate in a real-world setting are advanced, the molecular and atomic structures of porosome proteins and their interactions as “Knowledge Inputs” so that an AI agent is fine-tuned to correctly predict outcomes and appropriately respond to specific inputs is unavailable, and which is the primary objective of our program.
As a proof of concept, over 10 new proprietary peptide and small molecule drugs for the treatment of Alzheimer’s and Type II Diabetes have been developed and for some, their efficacy and safety have been rigorously assessed using both human organoid systems and animal model of the disease.
